A guided tour of the historic Castello district, a majestic fortress overlooking Cagliari, adorned with noble palaces, bastions, towers, an armoury and a cathedral. As you wander through the narrow streets, you will move from cool, shaded alleyways into the spectacular sunlight of the bastions, which offer views over the historic districts, the sea and the lagoons. Every corner has a story to tell, with churches, chapels, the royal palace and the archbishop’s residence. Today, the former armoury is the Citadel of Museums, where you can visit the Archaeological Museum, which houses precious artefacts from Sardinia’s ancient inhabitants.
